Prakash Ambedkar. On January 23 this year, the Shiv Sena (UBT) and the VBA announced an alliance ahead of the local elections in various cities of Maharashtra.

The move was seen as an attempt by Thackeray to garner the support of Dalits ahead of the state assembly elections. Thackeray’s party is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance which also includes the NCP and the Congress.

A few days after the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the VBA formed an alliance, Pawar said there were no plans to hold talks with Ambedkar’s faction within the MVA.
