What is a HUID?
A HUID is a 6 digit numeric code. This includes numbers and letters. According to the department, the HUID will be assigned to each piece of clothing during the certification process and will be unique for each piece of clothing. The unique number is recorded manually on the jewelry in the research areas and brands.
Nidhi Khare, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs informed that the number of BIS registered employees has increased from 1,53,718 in 2022-23. According to the guidelines of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the BIS hallmark consists of 3 symbols – the BIS logo, the purity/improvement class and the 6-digit alphanumeric code known as the HUID.
