SAN FRANCISCO: Google announced in the first quarter of the year that it deleted 6,000 channels from YouTube originating from China. These channels belong to the Dragon Bridge, a part of China’s foundation whose mission is to expand China’s influence around the world. These channels and blogs contain a variety of Chinese-language content on music, entertainment, and lifestyle, with special videos and blogs on US-China relations and foreign affairs posted in English and Chinese. . According to Google, it is not a personal effort and it is a corporate action. It was also flagged as spam by Google’s system many times.
