The Toblerone chocolate bar that resembles the Swiss pyramid more than a century old will change its packaging to remove the Matterhorn mountain peak in accordance with the European alpine country’s rules, media reports on Sunday.
The image of the lush mountain peak, used in chocolate packaging since the 1970s, had to change because some Toblerone production was moved outside of Switzerland, and a 2017 Swiss law stating that national brands cannot be allowed to promote milk-based products as such. It’s not just about the country, says the BBC.
The chocolate will undergo a name change that will change the Matterhorn to a high Alpine summit and include the signature of the founder, such as the US firm Mondelez that owns the brand.
