The second half of the budget session of the West Bengal Assembly will begin on Monday, with the Opposition BJP planning to oppose the Trinamool Congress government on various issues.

The allocation of the budget of the various departments will be presented to the Assembly in the current session. Sources in the BJP said that the party is planning to raise the issue of arresting Congress leader Koustav Bagchi over allegations against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, dearness allowance (DA) demands and other subjects.

Recently, it was decided in a meeting of the legislative committee of the Assembly led by Speaker Biman Banerjee, that no MLA can be suspended for more than a month.

Legal Affairs Minister Sovandeb Chattopadhyay said, “The period of suspension of any MLA cannot be for an indefinite period. It cannot be more than a month.”

Speaker Banerjee also attended the meeting. A motion according to this situation may be presented before the current meeting, as you know.

Last year, the Speaker suspended six BJP MPs in the second half of the budget.

BJP MLAs Mihir Goswami and Sudeep Mukherjee were earlier arrested for allegedly disrupting Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar’s speech.

Later, the Speaker arrested four other MPs, including Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, due to a disturbance in the House.

Adhikari even moved the court on the issue. The court asked both parties to resolve the issue through dialogue. The Speaker withdrew the suspension of the BJP political party’s request.
